5 Quick Tips to Help You Fall in Love with Your Skin

1. Use products that brighten and detox your skin
This is an easy but often overlooked step. While you might be using some great age-defying products with moisturizers and antioxidants – well-known wrinkle deterrents – you can’t forget about brightening and helping detox your skin. Research shows that pollution is becoming skin’s number one enemy because it can lead not only to fine lines but also to dark spots (hyperpigmentation). In fact, many times it’s the appearance of dark spots that prematurely age the look of your skin. Neora’s IllumaBoost™ Brightening & Shield is a super easy product to incorporate into your skincare routine to brighten and shield your skin. With a powerful combination of two gold-standard brightening ingredients, Niacinamide and Vitamin C, this serum is a must-have, skin-saving multitasker!
2. Drink plenty of water
Your body is mostly water. Water is what nourishes cells, tissues and organs. It’s essential for life. And, while you need water to keep your internal systems functioning, water intake is also a great way to keep your skin hydrated from the inside-out, keeping skin looking fresh and radiant. On the flip side, a lack of water can leave skin looking dry and sallow. Drinking water is such a simple step to help keep your skin in tip-top shape that many people forget about. But, I’m here to tell you, keep it top of mind. It’s a little skin “hack” that will have you looking in the mirror at a healthy, vibrant reflection.
3. Don’t overdo your makeup
I LOVE makeup, so you’ll never hear me tell you not to wear it. But makeup can add years to your age, without you even knowing it, depending on the amount and type of makeup you wear. The fact is the heavier your concealer, foundation, and eye makeup, the more the formula and pigment can settle into fine lines throughout the day and make hardly visible lines look like deep wrinkles. My advice is to use a super-light concealer and then a tinted moisturizer or if you want more coverage, a moisturizing foundation. Look for super-hydrating ingredients in your foundation, such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin. And, make sure to start with a face that is sufficiently moisturized, so that you have a nice, soft canvas on which to apply your makeup. Neora’s Day Cream is a great pre-makeup product. Its lightweight formula adds hydration without weighing skin down or interacting with your foundation. Plus, mid-day, try this pro tip to refresh the area under your eye: apply Neora’s Eye-V™ Moisture Boost Hydrogel Patches on-top of your makeup to freshen it up and bring back the dewiness that’s usually gone after lunch.
4. Cheers! Great-looking skin means cutting down on alcohol
Don’t get me wrong, after studying in Spain and Italy years ago, I became a big fan of a glass of wine with dinner. It’s part of their foodie cultures and a key part of how they socialize. And, trust me, I won’t be going 100 percent alcohol-free anytime soon. But, too much alcohol can dehydrate your skin, sapping its moisture, making it dry, which can lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, after drinking in the evening, it’s hard to get a good night’s sleep. Missing your beauty rest can lead to dark circles under your eyes, leaving you looking tired and adding unwanted years to your face. So, while I’m not advocating teetotaling, keeping drinking to a minimum – especially during the week – will keep your skin looking healthier longer.
5. It’s not just your face that needs some TLC, so does your body
While I spend a lot of my time talking about how to take care of your facial skin, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention your body skin. In fact, many people take good care of their face but forget their body, which is why you often can tell someone’s “real” age by the look of their neck, hands, and chest. Fret not. The newest addition to our body care line, Prolistic™ Skin-Balancing Lotion with Probiotic Technology, is here to help. This multifunctional lotion helps keep your skin barrier in a healthy state via ProRenew Plus, a prebiotic + probiotic lysate. And, the Moisturizing Complex, which includes a host of super-hydrating ingredients, is clinically proven to offer 24 to 48 hours of moisturization. With its sheer texture and ease of application, it fits conveniently into your daily regimen, helping you look your best from head-to-toe!
How to pair Firm with Prolistic?
We recommend massaging Firm into each targeted area first, then lightly layering Prolistic Lotion over it.
My skin always gets dry this time of year, so thanks for sharing this. I like your point about drinking lots of water. I will try to do this so my skin stays hydrated.
