The Ayuni Project: Support

What you need to install in order to participate:

Browser:

• The only browser we fully support is Netscape 4.x.
• Microsoft Internet Exploder (4.x or 5.x) also works, except for the "fast" video windows. We tried to solve the problem, but we're still waiting for support from the guys who wrote the webcam software.
• Other broswers (NS 3.x, MSIE 3.x, etc.) may be a real pain, so don't expect support if you use them.

Chat:

In order to go to  the Nablus chat from your browser, you need AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) version 2.x (version 1.x won't launch from the page and the browser will give you an error message if yu click on the Nablus chat  icon).

Voice:

Instant Communication:

In order to communicate during sessions, we use the PureVoice format. Compression and sound quality are very good for voice. Files are either transmitted via AIM file transfer (Windows only), or eMail.

Voice files on our pages:

PureVoice files uploaded to the Ayuni  pages are converted to QuickTime 3 format. Mac a Windows users can DL it here.

• Sometimes s video page stops refreshing (usually because of a temporary crash on the server sending the video).

Solution:

click the [ refresh ] link to renew the connection.

• On old browsers (NS 3.x/MSIE 3.x), if a video window or popup page is already open, clicking its link/button reloads it, but doesn't pop it up to front.

Workaround:

close windows you don't use, so next time they'll appear on top.

Solution:

get a decent browser.

• The Anabtawi home page always has this problem (if already open - doesn't popup)
